Gasoline prices in Rhode Island fell another 3 cents last week, the 11th consecutive week of price drops, good news for drivers traveling as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, AAA of Southern New England said.
AAA’s weekly survey of gas prices in Rhode Island showed that self-serve, regular unleaded gas is an average of $1.58 per gallon, 3 cents less than last week and 27 cents cheaper than September 1, an all-time high of $1.85. This week’s price is only 2 cents more than the August 4 price, which came before the 29-cent increase over a month. Drivers on average will see prices that are 7 cents higher than last Thanksgiving, AAA said.
The association advised travelers to fill up early; 74 percent of the gas stations surveyed in the state will be open on the 27th but some of them for limited hours.
There continues to be a wide range in self-serve unleaded gas prices in Rhode Island, from $1.49 to $1.66 this week. Current local gas prices and their ranges are listed below:
