PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices rose a penny this week, reversing last week’s decline, while diesel prices saw a 4-cent decrease, AAA Southern New England said today in its weekly fuel-price report.
AAA’s March 31 survey of local gas stations found self-serve, regular unleaded averaged $3.189 across the Ocean State. Rhode Island gas is 10 cents lower than the national average of $3.289. One year ago, at this time, the average price of regular unleaded in Rhode Island was $2.679.
The survey found a 14-cent range in prices for self-serve regular at local stations, from $3.119 to $3.259. Wider ranges were seen for other grades of fuel, which had average self-serve prices of $3.319 for mid-grade unleaded, $3.429 for premium unleaded and $4.169 for diesel. The price for diesel was down 4 cents per gallon from last week’s average of $4.209.
