PROVIDENCE – Hasbro Children’s Hospital says it raised $428,190 during its annual radiothon last week in collaboration with Cumulus Providence stations WPRO-FM 92.3 , WWLI-FM 015.1, WPRO-AM/FM 60/99.7 and WWKX-FM 106.3.
The event, which took place at the hospital and was broadcast on the Cumulus radio stations from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, presented the stories of young Hasbro patients and their families. More than 100 volunteers answered phones to accept donations throughout the day.
The 15th annual radiothon “is simply amazing in how it brings thousands of people together to make a difference in the lives of pediatric patients and their families – we could not be more grateful to our community for its generosity,” said Margaret M. Van Bree, president of Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. “Cumulus and the on-air talent are truly special partners. To see them holding babies and talking with families is not only moving, but underscores their commitment to kids and to our hospital.”
Over the years, the radiothon has raised more than $8.4 million for Hasbro Children’s Hospital, according to organizers. The event raised $422,431 last year and $403,583 in 2017.
