
When Norwegian Air announced that it was going to fly to Europe from T.F. Green Airport, it heralded a new day for Rhode Island travelers. Finally, a direct flight to Europe, a beachhead in what would become a significant part of the airport’s travel options.
More than two years later, flagging demand and the Boeing 737 Max plane groundings have pushed Norwegian in the hole, so the discount airline has discontinued its overseas flights from Rhode Island. It was fun while it lasted, at least for those who took advantage of the service. But is it really a big deal?
