PROVIDENCE – LIN TV Corp. today announced it has completed its acquisition of KASA-TV, the Fox affiliate in Albuquerque, from Raycom Media.
LIN TV has been operating the station since Sept. 15.
The acquisition creates a television duopoly in the 45th-ranked television market, where LIN TV already owned CBS affiliate KRQE-TV.
“We welcome KASA and its employees to the LIN TV family,” said Vincent Sadusky, president and chief executive officer of LIN TV. “The creation of this potent demographic and programming combination enhances LIN TV’s multi-station strategy.”
LIN TV now has duopolies in 10 markets. Besides the Providence market, where it has WPRI-TV and WNAC-TV, it operates two or more stations in Albuquerque-Santa Fe, N.M.; Austin, Texas; Indianapolis; Hartford-New Haven, Conn.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Norfolk, Va.; Buffalo, N.Y.; Mobile-Pensacola, Ala.; and Puerto Rico.
LIN TV Corp. (NYSE: TVL) owns and operates 31 TV stations in 18 mid-sized markets, and is a part owner of five others. Additional information is available at www.lintv.com.
