Electronics semiconductor manufacturer Kopin Corp. said its new CyberDisplay 113EVF, an ultra-small, ultra-low power electronic viewfinder system, has been integrated into the new SpyPen Oboe digital camera recently introduced in Europe.
The Kopin CyberDisplay includes the world’s smallest color microdisplay – it’s as small as a grain of rice, Kopin said – and uses less battery power than other displays, but, when used with an appropriate optic, provides a virtual image size as large, clear and vibrant as full-size displays. The display also includes the lens, polarizer, backlight and housing.
World Wide Licenses Ltd. manufactures the SpyPen Oboe camera for German digital camera company plawa-feinwerktechnik GmbH, Kopin said in a statement. The SpyPen Oboe features a telescopic look with a 2.1-megapixel resolution and a 2X-zoom, the company said.
Kopin’s liquid-crystal microdisplays, transistors and high-brightness LEDs enhance voice, video and data. The company’s technology is currently used in nearly one-third of the world’s cell phones and camcorders, and its microdisplay technology is used by the U.S. military.
