NEWPORT – LaForge Casino and Restaurant was named the winner of the Newport Burger Bender contest for its “Winterburger,” according to Discover Newport Monday.
The burger garnered more than a quarter of the popular vote. It featured an eight-ounce brisket blend patty topped with short-rib, baby arugula, cheddar and smoked-bacon-cranberry jam on a brioche bun.
LaForge Casino Restaurant also won the previous year’s contest.
The burger from The Mooring was selected as Critic’s Choice this year. The “Sweet N’ Spicy” burger featured a Brandt Farms beef patty, pepper jack cheese, pineapple jalapeno marmalade, Cajun bacon and fried onion strings.
The burger from Chomp Kitchen & Drinks was named Creative Champion this year. The “Towering Inferno” burger was a mortadella pork patty, doubled stacked, with guacamole, Andy Capp hot fries, deep fried jalapeno and cheddar cream cheese bomb.
