John M. Roney has been elected vice president of the Rhode Island Bar Association. He is a partner in the Providence law firm of Roney & Labinger. He is a member of the Rhode Island State Senate representing Providence’s East Side and Fox point neighborhoods. Roney earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Providence College and his juris doctorate from Catholic University in Maryland. He is admitted to practice law in Rhode Island, Virginia and the District of Columbia. In the Senate he is Deputy Majority Leader and he sits on the finance and health, education and welfare committees. He resides in Providence with his wife Barbara Kennedy.
