PROVIDENCE – The president and chief operating officer of Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island has resigned after serving in the role for less than a year.
Rick Majzun left the hospital to pursue other professional opportunities, Care New England announced on Monday.
“Care New England and Women & Infants would like to thank Rick for his efforts and appreciate his support, energy, and enthusiasm for the important work taking place both at Women & Infants and across Care New England, and we wish him well in his future endeavors,” CNE spokesman Jim Beardsworth said in a statement.
He declined to provide further details about Majzun’s future plans.
Majzun was named head of Women & Infants in May of last year, and officially started in position in late July.
Matt Quin, an RN who has served as senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at the hospital since 2015, will take over as interim chief operating officer.
A search for a new president and chief operating officer will begin in a few months, Beardsworth said.
Majzun, the former vice president of operations at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and vice president of Women & Infants Service at Barnes Jewish Hospital, was appointed head of Women & Infants in Rhode Island after a year-long national search.
