UNCASVILLE, CONN. – Mohegan Sun today will hold a grand opening for the Casino of the Wind, part of the $740 million Project Horizon expansion project.
The 64,000-square-foot casino is part of the addition of 1.4 million square feet to the resort by 2010.
Its décor will feature “artistic representations of some of the Mohegan Tribe’s most timeless traditions,” the tribe said in announcing the groundbreaking of the casino during June 2007, “including the spirits of the four winds.”
With about 45,000 square feet of gaming space, the casino will have roughly 20 table games, 825 slot machines and a 42-table poker room.
In May, the Mohegan Tribe broke ground on the final phase of Project Horizon, which will include a 922-room hotel, House of Blues Music Hall and 20,000-square-foot spa. The expansion is expected to be completed during late 2010.
Mohegan Sun, located on 240 acres along the Thames River in southeastern Connecticut, is a resort casino owned by the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority. For additional information, visit www.mohegansun.com.
