EAST GREENWICH – The New England Institute of Technology’s Rocket League esports team won the National Esports Collegiate Conference Rocket League championship, defeating Worcester, Mass.-based Assumption College 4-0 on Dec. 4.
The victory culminated in New England Tech’s esports team recording an 11-0 overall record between the regular season and playoffs, and a 34-2 overall gameplay record. New England Tech will now move onto a national competition that is slated to be held in the spring.
“With the esports program being new to New England Tech, it was awesome to win the NECC Rocket League title,” New England Tech Esports Coordinator Brandon Eigenbrode said in a statement. “The team played incredibly well together all season, and I could not be prouder of each player. We would not have won the divisional title without the dedication of the players and their coach, Raden Mikkelsen. His expertise really helped the team to victory.”
