NCU Investment Solutions senior vice president and director of wealth management and financial planning
Oliver Tutt, founder of Randall Financial Group LLC in Providence, ran the investment advisory business for more than 20 years, growing the firm to $65 million in assets and $600,000 in annual revenues before selling it to Navigant Credit Union in September 2025. After it was acquired by Navigant, Randall Financial became NCU Investment Solutions – a wholly owned subsidiary of the Smithfield-based credit union – where Tutt now serves as senior vice president and director of wealth management and financial planning.
He’s excited about rebuilding the wealth management program under a fiduciary registered investment adviser model, which he says is a first for a Rhode Island credit union. The first year has been about transitioning his clients to NCU and building the firm’s program.
“There are always challenges with technology, personnel, communications when you’re essentially building from scratch,” Tutt said.
He’s walking in different shoes – from running his own two-person business to leading 10 people at a large company. “I enjoy working with a team and all the resources of a big firm,” he said.
But one thing that won’t change is his mantra: “Clients come first. We can’t be motivated by anything else. We have to do the right thing by clients, stakeholders,” Tutt said.
As for his leadership style, “I’m a collaborator, open to opinions, different directions. I never assume I have the right answer,” he said.
He’s already making his mark at the firm. In the last six months it has doubled the number of clients and assets under management. Tutt talks about industry challenges he’ll help the firm navigate.
“All of us are thinking about AI [artificial intelligence] and making sure we don’t get replaced by it. We have to convince the younger generation about the advantages of a long-term relationship with an adviser,” he said.
Tutt, who serves as vice chair of Leadership Rhode Island, loves sailing and woodworking. The father of four thinks about the legacy he’ll leave his family, but professionally, he said humbly, “If they say I was smart and had something to add to the conversation, I would be flattered. I have tried to lead quietly and by example. It’s been a privilege.”
