PROVIDENCE – Cases of COVID-19 in Rhode Island increased by 230 on Monday, with seven new deaths, the R.I. Department of Health said Tuesday.
Hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients in the state totaled 132, a decline of two day to day. Of those hospitalized, 18 were in an intensive care unit, a decline of one from Monday, and 16 were on a ventilator, level with one day prior.
There have been 386,264 total COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the state to date, a rise of 5,101 day to day. Of those, 274,788 have been first doses, a rise of 1,572 day to day. To date, 118,021 individuals in Rhode Island have been fully vaccinated, an increase of 3,622 day to day.
Cases in the state have totaled 131,750 to date, a rise of 263 from Monday, accounting for both the day to day increase, as well as data revisions for previous days.
Deaths due to the virus in Rhode Island have totaled 2,583 to date.
The state also released its three weekly COVID-19 metrics Tuesday and their relation to department-set thresholds, with two of the metrics worsening week to week:
- The state positivity rate remained at 2% last week, below the department-set threshold of 5%.
- New hospital admissions totaled 135 last week, an increase from 118 one week prior, but remained below the set threshold of 210.
- New cases per 100,000 residents totaled 225, an increase from 221 one week prior, remaining above the set threshold of 100 per 100,000 residents.
There were 9,394 tests processed in Rhode Island Monday, with an overall positive rate of 2.4%. When excluding both repeat positive and repeat negative test results, the positive rate was 16.9%.
There have been 3.26 million tests administered in the state to date to 821,097 individuals.
