PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island declined 2 cents this week to $2.32 per gallon, 7 cents higher than the national average of $2.25 per gallon and 29 cents lower than prices at this time last year, according to AAA Northeast Monday.
AAA said the average price of regular gas in Rhode Island has declined every week since mid-October.
Prices in the Ocean State ranged 40 cents, from $2.19 to $2.59 per gallon.
“Increased demand, likely due to consumers filling up ahead of the cold weather, continues to be offset locally by strong supplies of gasoline,” stated Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast senior vice president of public and government affairs.
- Midgrade gas averaged $2.56 per gallon, ranging from $2.49 to $2.69 per gallon
- Premium gas averaged $2.78 per gallon, ranging from $2.69 to $2.89 per gallon
- Diesel fuel averaged $3.03 per gallon, ranging from $2.86 to $3.16 per gallon
In Massachusetts, the average price of regular gas declined 1 cent this week to $2.39 per gallon, 14 cents higher than the national average and 14 cents lower than this time last year.
- Midgrade gas averaged $2.71, ranging from $2.51 to $3.09 per gallon
- Premium gas averaged $2.92, ranging from $2.71 to $3.29 per gallon
- Diesel fuel averaged $3, ranging from $2.79 to $3.29 per gallon
