PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island increased 6 cents this week to $2.75 per gallon, 4 cents lower than the national average and 14 cents lower than prices at this time last year, according to AAA Northeast Monday.
Prices in the Ocean State ranged 40 cents from $2.59 to $2.99 per gallon.
“Gas prices over the last week increased for the majority of motorists east of the Mississippi,” said Diana Imondi, AAA Northeast manager of public affairs and traffic safety, in a statement. “More-expensive crude oil prices, robust demand and decreasing gasoline supply all contributed to the higher prices.”
- Midgrade gas averaged $3.02 per gallon, ranging from $2.84 to $3.19 per gallon.
- Premium gas averaged $3.20 per gallon, ranging from $3.04 to $3.39 per gallon.
- Diesel fuel averaged $3.08 per gallon, ranging from $2.99 to $3.35 per gallon.
In Massachusetts, the price of regular gas increased 1 cent to $2.70 per gallon, 9 cents lower than the national average and 13 cents lower than prices at this time last year.
Prices in the Bay State ranged 52 cents from $2.53 to $3.05 per gallon.
- Midgrade gas averaged $2.89, ranging from $2.65 to $3.25 per gallon.
- Premium gas averaged $3.06, ranging from $2.82 to $3.45 per gallon.
- Diesel fuel averaged $3.03, ranging from $2.73 to $3.39 per gallon.
