PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank recently awarded $1 million in grants to four municipalities for public infrastructure projects, according to a news release.
The money was awarded through the Municipal Infrastructure Grant Program, which offers capital funding to public entities for improvement projects that create housing and economic development, with a 25% match requirement.
Recipients of the latest funding, and projects, are:
- Burrillville for a project to design and build a 90-foot sewer pipe across Clear River, updating sewer work that was completed in the mid-90s, to allow for future residential and commercial development.
- Central Falls to partially fund creation of 47 new affordable housing units on Broad Street.
- New Shoreham for new workforce housing units.
- Glocester for a study of how to develop a community potable water system in Chepachet.
