PROVIDENCE – Hasbro Children’s, the pediatric division of Rhode Island Hospital, has received $30,000 from funds raised during the R.I. Senate’s fifth annual charity golf tournament.
The total raised from the Senate’s most recent open pushed its total fundraising past $200,000 since its inception in 2019, according to an Aug. 10 announcement from Brown University Health, the operator of Hasbro Children’s.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Rhode Island Senate for this generous gift and for its continued commitment to Hasbro Children’s,” Sarah Frost, president of Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s, said in the release. “Support from our community helps us continue advancing care for children and families today while building a healthier future for generations to come.”
Senate representatives, including Senate President Valarie J. Lawson, Senate Majority Leader Frank A. Ciccone III and Senate Majority Whip David P. Tikoian, presented the $30,000 check to Brown Health leadership on Aug. 6.
“The Rhode Island Senate is proud to support the extraordinary care the hospital provides to children and families across Rhode Island and southern New England. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this year’s tournament another success,” Lawson said in the release.
As the sole children’s hospital in Rhode Island, Hasbro Children’s has been named a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and a verified surgical quality partner by the American College of Surgeons, a Chicago-based nonprofit.
