PORTSMOUTH – The Pentagon has awarded Raytheon Co.’s Integrated Defense Systems division a $58.3 million contract to build spare parts for Navy helicopters, U.S. Sen. Jack Reed announced today.
Raytheon IDS will build parts for the common cockpit and multi-mode radar systems used in Navy MH-60R helicopters, said Reed, a member of the Armed Services Committee and the Appropriations Committee.
The MH-60R helicopter is used for surface-to-air combat and anti-submarine warfare.
One hundred percent of the work is to be completed at the company’s Portsmouth location. The contract – set to be completed by October of 2010 – was not awarded competitively.
