LEXINGTON — The Navy has announced it is withholding $36 million in payments
for the Joint Standoff Weapon until Raytheon fixes the self-guided missile. This
was the missile used recently against Iraqi air defense positions with relative
inaccuracy. Raytheon will also have to absorb at least $34 million of the $44
million cost for the extension by six months of the next stage of the development
of the next generation of the Navy’s Tomahawk Cruise Missile, according to Pentagon
documents.
