PROVIDENCE – The craft-brewing industry employed 1,705 full-time equivalent workers in Rhode Island in 2018 at breweries and brewpubs, including serving staff at brewpubs, according to an economic impact report from the Brewers Association Wednesday.
The industry was said to have had a total paid labor income of $82.6 million in the state with an average wage of $48,478 per worker. The total economic impact of the industry in the state was said to be $219.6 million in 2018. The figure was derived from the economic impact of breweries, wholesalers and retailers, as well as all non-beer products such as food and merchandise that brewpub restaurants and brewery taprooms sell, according to the association.
The report found the craft-brewing industry contributed $79.1 billion to the United States economy in 2018 and employed more than 559,000 workers.
