PROVIDENCE – Home prices in Rhode Island increased 4.9 percent year over year in April according to the latest data from CoreLogic. Housing prices in the state are projected to rise another 3.3 percent by April 2018, the consumer information and analytics company said in a report on Tuesday.
Nationwide, home prices climbed 6.9 percent in April from the same time last year, and 1.6 percent from the month before, with only three states – Alaska, Delaware, and Wyoming – seeing yearly declines. According to CoreLogic, the busy spring selling season helps to boost prices this time of year, although the Rhode Island market saw a 0.2 percent decrease between March and April.
Denver, Las Vegas, and Boston were among the U.S. metro areas experiencing the largest housing price increases since last year, with 9.3, 7.0 and 6.0 percent gains, respectively.
In Massachusetts, home prices increased 6.1 percent in April year over year, and 1.6 percent from March of this year.
