PROVIDENCE – Life sciences industry group RI Bio has named a new member to its board of directors as well as a new board chair emeritus and ambassador.
Michael Elliott, currently serving as vice president of immunology scientific innovation at Johnson & Johnson, has been named to the board, RI Bio announced.
David Goldsmith, co-founder of MedMates, which rebranded to RI Bio last month, and managing director at Aspiera Medical, will be stepping off the board into his new role as board chair emeritus and ambassador for the organization, RI BIO said.
Goldsmith served as the lead architect for the organization’s strategic plan, Life Sciences Expo and member meetings, according to RI Bio’s announcement.
“Rebranding from MedMates to RI Bio and joining an extremely dynamic community has shed light on the increased responsibility we have to our members and the services we provide them,” said Carol Malysz, executive director of RI Bio. “It’s imperative our organization maintains a certain level of leadership, including our board of directors, that will not only help guide the direction of RI Bio, but contribute to its overall success. We thank David Goldsmith for his dedication, insights and support over the years and look forward to welcoming … [Michael] Elliott.”
Elliott has led successful clinical development programs in the field of autoimmunity and served as general manager and site head for TransForm Pharmaceuticals, a former Johnson & Johnson portfolio company, RI Bio said.
