Middletown-based Systems Engineering Associates Corp. (SEA CORP) has won a five-year, $57.3 million contract with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport.
The contract, providing engineering, testing and evaluation services for submarine combat systems, was awarded by Naval Sea Systems Command.
“This work will involve the full spectrum of technical support for the combat systems of virtually every class of submarine in the U.S. fleet,” Robert McDevitt, SEA CORP’s senior vice president for technical operations, said in a news release. “Our professional corps of systems engineers, under the direction of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport, will develop the procedures and perform the testing to make sure that the submarines’ weapons and sensors are working together properly, to enable them to perform their vital national security missions.”
Founded in Newport in 1981, SEA CORP now employs about 250 engineers, scientists and technicians at its Middletown headquarters and its branch office in Groton, Conn.
As NUWC’s prime contractor for this effort, the company will lead a team comprising American Systems Corp., Applied Systems Engineering Solutions LLC, Deegan Research Group, Digital Diagnostics Inc. Dorazio Defense Systems, EG&G Technical Services, Peter W. Martin Co., Rite Solutions, and Scientific Applications International Corp. (SAIC).
