PROVIDENCE – Shawmut Design and Construction has completed a renovation of the West Middle House, a 15,000-square-foot historic building centrally located on the Moses Brown School campus.
The eight-month renovation included shoring the exterior walls with steel bracing and rebuilding the steel frame inside the building, the company said. Before the restoration began, a structural-engineering study found that the 136-year-old building’s wood frame was “rapidly deteriorating.”
The renovation was designed by Rhinebeck Architecture & Planning PC of Rhinebeck, N.Y.
