Smoking ban begins in Massachusetts

Massachusetts becamesthe sixth state
in the country to institute a statewide smoking ban in restaurants
and bars today.

The ban was passed by the legislature last year and signed
into law by Governor Mitt Romney in June. Businesses that are
dedicated to selling tobacco products, such as cigar bars,
private clubs and some nursing homes can still allow smoking.

The fine for violating the ban is $300 for business owners
and $100 for smokers.
