NEW BEDFORD – The SouthCoast Community Foundation has awarded $97,000 in grants to 12 city-based organizations through the foundation’s Polaroid Fund.
The fund, the foundation said, is dedicated to enhancing skills and education for the city’s youths and its workforce. Foundation CEO and President Leonard M. Lee said in a statement that fueling economic opportunities within the city is central to the foundation’s work.
“It is inspiring to see people from throughout our city realize their educational and employment aspirations thanks to the exceptional programming these grantees bring to the community,” Lee said.
Grants ranged from $3,500 to $12,000.
The organizations that received the funding and their amounts are:
- Community Economic Development Center of Southeastern Massachusetts, $12,000
- Immigrants’ Assistance Center, $12,000
- Centro Comunitario de Trabajadores, $10,000
- Junior Achievement of Southern Mass Inc., $10,000
- New Bedford Art Museum/Artworks!, $9,000
- PACE Inc., $8,000
- School on Wheels, $8,000
- YWCA of Southeastern Massachusetts, $8,000
- Portuguese United for Education, doing business as Discovery Language Academy, $7,500
- United Way of Greater New Bedford, $5,000
- New Bedford Children, $4,000
- Women’s Fund SouthCoast, $3,500
