EAST GREENWICH – Sproutel team leaders, including co-founder Hannah Chung and her teammate Emily Busam, spent two days at Rocky Hill School in East Greenwich last week hosting a prototyping workshop. The goal was to make the medical-electronics field playful for the children, and demonstrate research methods used in the field.
Lower, middle and upper school students all participated in the rapid prototyping workshops in the Idea Lab at the school’s Hale Science Center. They explored the design-thinking process and insights that occurred along the way, according to a school news release. The Sproutel team provided the materials and research methods, with students getting the chance to build their own prototypes.
Sproutel is a Providence-based health care research and development workshop.
Students at Rocky Hill also got to hear about the company’s latest project, My Special Aflac Duck, a social robot designed to provide comfort to children battling cancer, which won an award at the Consumer Electronics Show in Nevada last month.
