PROVIDENCE – Local tech guru Jack Templin spends a lot of time helping young entrepreneurs get their sea legs. On Wednesday night, though, the tables will turn as Templin himself shows off a product long in the making.
Templin and his brother Chris will give the first public preview of Lockify, a new Web application that aims to help people safely send sensitive information over the Internet, at this month’s Providence Geeks dinner at AS220.
The free data-encryption service has been in the works since last year, Templin, who co-founded Providence Geeks and also owns the boutique consultancy ThoughtCap LLC, said in an e-mail. The company has five employees, according to its LinkedIn profile.
“Lockifying sensitive information before sharing it online protects you and your contacts,” Templin wrote in a blog post. “Doing so helps guard against interception, copying, archiving, security breaches, data-mining and other rotten stuff.”
Templin said Lockify will become available in a public beta release next month.
