URI to host VR-AR application design Immerse-a-Thon March 2

THE UNIVERSITY OF Rhode Island’s Robert L. Carothers Library & Learning Commons will be the site of Immerse-a-Thon on Saturday, a virtual-reality and augmented-reality application design competition.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The University of Rhode Island will host an Immerse-a-Thon on virtual-reality and augmented-reality applications on Saturday, March 2, at the Robert L. Carothers Library & Learning Commons building.

The event is open to all college students, in any discipline.

Mentors will network with and assist entrants in the design competition, which offers $500 in prize money. Participants can experience VR/AR applications, prepare pitches and attend a workshop on 3D development platform Unity. Breakfast and a working lunch are offered as well.

The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with a welcome and breakfast. Teams form at 10 a.m., with the awards at 3 p.m. The hands-on Unity workshop will run from 3:30 to 5 p.m., according to URI.
