Football is being very very good to Uvex Safety.
In August of this year, the Smithfield-based Uvex Safety reached an
agreement with the National Football League to produce special editions
of the market-leading uvex astrospec 3000 protective eyeware with the
color-schemes and insignias of the 31 National Football League teams.
Since the end of the summer, the NFL astrospec 3000 has emerged as one
of the company’s all-time best selling product lines, with many
customers using it to encourage employees to protect their eyes both
off-hours and on the job.
“Many of our customers tell us that eye safety is a real bottom-line
concern, at home as well as at work,” said Anne Chambers, a marketing
manager at Uvex. “They recognize this as an opportunity for addressing
the issue with their employees in a way that encourages continued use of
eye protection while working around homes ”
Chambers said recent OSHA studies show that 37 percent of eye injuries
occur off work hours.
The American-made uvex astrospec 3000 is the single most popular eyeware
model in the workplace today. It has a patented lens inclination,
easily replaceable lens, and adjustable temple length. The NFL-licensed
editions come with a choice of clear, gray or mirrored lens tints.
According to Uvex, the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos represent
the best selling eyeware to date.
Uvex Safety is a division of Bacou USA.
