HOPKINTON – Nonprofit health services provider Wood River Health has elected four new members to its board of directors.
Wood River named Nancy Harrison, Robyn Hoffmann, Steven M. Parente and Eric Wilson to its board in an Aug. 18 announcement.
“Their leadership will help guide our organization as we continue to expand access to care, address evolving community needs, and fulfill our mission of improving the health and well-being of the patients and communities we serve,” Wood River CEO and President Alison Croke said in the announcement.
As a Federally Qualified Health Center, 51% of Wood River’s board must be active patients. Now with 10 members, the board oversees the center that provides medical, dental and behavioral health care to 12,000 patients annually.
A retired nurse, Harrison worked in healthcare for more than three decades, including serving in leadership roles in acute care, long-term care and home care settings. She spearheaded healthcare initiatives at organizations such as Minnesota-based insurer UnitedHealthcare, Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island in Smithfield and Rhode Island Primary Care Physicians Corp. in Cranston.
“I chose to serve on the board of Wood River Health because I was impressed by the organization’s leadership and its commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and providing exceptional patient care. It is a privilege to support an organization that is making such a positive impact on the lives of the people it serves,” Harrison said in the release.
Hoffmann, a registered nurse and patient at Wood River, works as senior manager in the healthcare practice group of Maine-based professional services firm BerryDunn. She has extensive experience in leadership at Federally Qualified Health Centers, hospital-based ambulatory care environments and Medicaid managed care organizations.
“I am truly honored to serve as a Board member and am committed to Wood River Health’s mission, vision, and values,” Hoffmann said in the release.
Parente, who has 32 years of experience in the financial services field, works at Boston-based Beacon Bank as an executive vice president. He has held leadership roles at nonprofit, educational and community organizations.
“As a resident of Richmond for the last 32 years along with being a patient of Wood River Health for more than 20 years, Wood River Health is a strong community partner providing excellent care and support to a population that has been somewhat underserved for many years,” he said.
Wilson, a chartered financial analyst, serves at Westerly-based Professional Planning Group as a financial adviser, assisting clients with wealth management and retirement planning. Previously, he worked in scientific research and wealth management for individuals and institutional investors.
“Joining the Wood River Health board allows me to give back to the community by supporting an organization that makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives by providing compassionate and accessible healthcare,” Wilson said.
