Bank of America to hire 1,000 apprentices, invest $150M in workforce development

BANK OF AMERICA CORP. plans to hire 1,000 additional apprentices over the next two years and invest $150 million over five years in workforce development organizations across the United States.

PROVIDENCE – Bank of America Corp. plans to hire 1,000 additional apprentices over the next two years and invest $150 million over five years in workforce development organizations across the United States.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based bank announced the commitments Sept. 24 during National Workforce Development Month, saying the effort is intended to expand access to career opportunities and support local economies.

The additional apprenticeships will expand programs in areas, including consumer banking, technology and operations. Bank of America currently hires more than 800 apprentices annually through paid, work-based learning programs.

The bank said about 40% of its hires do not have a bachelor’s degree, as it expands skills-based hiring and career pathways that do not require a four-year degree.

The $150 million workforce development commitment builds on nearly $40 million Bank of America invested in 2025 through partnerships with more than 100 universities and community colleges and more than 600 nonprofit organizations across its U.S. markets.

The funding will support organizations that provide training, coaching and connections to career opportunities, with specific investments to be determined based on local workforce needs.

“Apprenticeship and workforce development programs underscore our continued commitment to expanding opportunity and helping talented individuals develop the skills to succeed,” said Brian Moynihan, chairman and CEO of Bank of America.
