PROVIDENCE – Anthony J. Silva, the director of the R.I. Municipal Police Training Academy and former Cumberland police chief, was named associate director of revenue services at the R.I. Department of Revenue and the head of the R.I. Division of Motor Vehicles last week.
According to a news release from the department, Silva will be responsible for the planning, direction and management of all motor vehicle functions, including registration, licensing, operation, enforcement, operator control and inspections. Silva’s hire comes as the DMV moves from the control of the R.I. Department of Administration to the Department of Revenue, a newly created department headed by former Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council Executive Director Gary S. Sasse. •
