CENTRAL FALLS – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $41,059 to the Central Falls Public Housing Authority to hire a full-time service coordinator who can help residents find jobs and improve their education.
The federal funds are intended to help public-housing authorities, resident associations, nonprofits or entities representing Native American tribes to hire service coordinators who can work directly with residents, to assess their needs and connect them with education, job-training or placement programs.
The goal is to promote self-sufficiency, according to HUD Secretary Ben Carson, via a news release. “This funding helps our local partners get public-housing residents the tools they need to gain economic and housing independence,” he said.
