Golfers at the Kent Washington Association of Realtors’ 17th Annual Golf Tournament raised $6,000 for the association’s annual charity event. Under the leadership of Tournament Chairman Andrew Shartenberg, the association was able to present checks to South County Habitat for Humanity and Habitat for Humanity of West Bay and Northern Rhode Island. Checks were presented at the annual election, installation, meeting and recognition night held in the Grande Ballroom at the Village Inn in Narragansett.
“We … realize it takes more than elbow grease and perseverance to meet all of the challenges that we face,” said Gary LeFrancois, vice president of the West Bay and Northern Rhode Island Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. “Monetary donations like [the Kent Washington Association of Realtors’] are a godsend.”
Funds raised for the chapter are expected to help with a rehab project in Cumberland.
The Kent Washington Association of Realtors has been hosting annual golf tournaments for housing-related charities since 1993, and has donated almost $90,000 to Habitat for Humanity chapters since 1999. •
