CRANSTON – Nelipak Corp. has acquired Computer Designs Inc., a thermoforming company based in Whitehall, Pa., for an undisclosed sum.
The business will operate under the name of Nelipak Healthcare Packaging, Nelipak said in a release issued Monday.

Computer Designs, with manufacturing operations in Arizona, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico, makes thermoformed rigid packaging primarily for the medical market.
Under the Nelipak Healthcare Packaging brand, Computer Designs will further develop its thermoformed packaging products and service capabilities for the health care market.
Nelipak said in the release that the acquisition will strengthen Nelipak’s commitment to the North American health care market, allowing it to take advantage of growth opportunities in North America, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and the broader Caribbean regions. In turn, Computer Designs’ customers will have access to Nelipak’s design teams and modern cleanroom manufacturing throughout its global locations.
Mike Kelly, president and CEO of Nelipak, said the company is excited about its acquisition of Computer Designs.
“We will leverage the unique capabilities of both organizations to delight our customers with innovative designs, world-class quality and excellent service,” Kelly said in a statement.
A company spokeswoman said CDI has approximately 103 full-time and part-time staff, and with the acquisition, Nelipak’s new employee total will exceed 750. No employee changes are planned at this time, she said.
