PROVIDENCE – An in-depth discussion of gentrification and community revitalization will be held at the John Hope Settlement House Thursday night, presented by Taino Palermo, program director of the community development program at Roger Williams University.
The community lecture will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Aug. 17, at 7 Thomas Whitten Way, in Providence.

The lecture is based on Palermo’s course, Community Revitalization and the Role of Gentrification, and will provide a foundation to understand gentrification in relation to revitalization, by examining historic contexts around which communities form, evolve and redevelop.
The lecture includes an interactive presentation and discussion panel with several guests involved in public policy.
A Spanish translator will attend and children are welcome. The session will have people to help care for them while parents participate.
