PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Commerce Corp. board of directors approved up to $886,250 over 10 years in Qualified Jobs Incentives for Boston Energy Wind Power Services Inc. on Monday.
The company plans to create 52 wind-turbine technician jobs with a median salary of roughly $65,000 per year. It will locate its Rhode Island offices in the Cambridge Innovation Center housed in the Wexford Innovation Center in the I-195 Redevelopment District. The company expects to finish hiring by 2023.

The company already works with Northeast clients, according to CommerceRI.
QJI incentives do not begin to take effect until jobs have been in place for a full year. The company would be required to keep the jobs in the state for 12 years.
Commerce expects the introduction of the company will realize a net of $2.4 million in personal income, sales and business corporation taxes annually for the state once all of the jobs have been created.
R.I. Commerce Corp. spokesman Matt Sheaff previously told PBN that Secretary of Commerce Stefan Pryor met with the company on a visit to Hull in the United Kingdom on a trade mission.
“Rhode Island is vying to be a center of excellence for offshore wind in America. The geographical location and support offered by Governor [Gina M.] Raimondo, Commerce Secretary Pryor and their teams has been critical to our decision in locating our U.S. Headquarters in Providence. This will allow Boston Energy Wind Power Services to support the impending offshore wind energy industry right along the North Eastern seaboard,” said Mark Parkes, CEO and president of Boston Energy in a statement.
The company is a subsidiary of Bostonair Group Ltd.
