PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island remained unchanged at $2.48 per gallon this week, 12 cents below the national average of $2.60 per gallon, according to AAA Northeast Monday.
The average price in Rhode Island was 29 cents higher one year prior at $2.77 per gallon.

Prices in the Ocean State ranged 34 cents from $2.35 to $2.69 per gallon.
- Midgrade gas averaged $2.80 per gallon, ranging from $2.64 to $2.99 per gallon.
- Premium gas averaged $2.98, ranging from $2.84 to $3.11 per gallon.
- Diesel fuel averaged $2.96, ranging from $2.75 to $3.35 per gallon.
In Massachusetts, the average price of regular gas declined 2 cents to $2.48 per gallon, 12 cents below the national average. Prices ranged 82 cents from $2.23 to $3.05 per gallon. Last year at this time, prices were 31 cents higher at $2.79 per gallon.
- Midgrade gas in Massachusetts averaged $2.74 per gallon this week, ranging from $2.52 to $3.09 per gallon.
- Premium gas averaged $2.93, ranging from $2.68 to $3.39 per gallon.
- Diesel fuel averaged $2.95, ranging from $2.71 to $3.25 per gallon.
