PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island increased 7 cents over the past week to $2.57 per gallon, 1 cent below the national average, according to AAA Northeast Monday.
Prices in Rhode Island were 15 cents lower at this time last year. Regular gas prices ranged 34 cents, from $2.45 to $2.79 per gallon.

- Midgrade gas averaged $2.88 per gallon, ranging from $2.79 to $2.99 per gallon.
- Premium gas averaged $3.08 per gallon, ranging from $2.99 to $3.19 per gallon.
- Diesel fuel averaged $3.05 per gallon, ranging from $2.96 to $3.29 per gallon.
“Crude oil prices are moving higher following the death of Iran’s top military leader, and was to be expected,” said Senior Vice President of AAA Public and Government Affairs Lloyd Albert in a statement. “The long-term impact to consumers at the pump will be dependent on how expensive crude oil prices become and the duration of any increase.”
In Massachusetts, regular gas prices increased 2 cents from last week to $2.54 per gallon, 4 cents lower than the national average. Prices were 5 cents lower one year prior. Prices ranged 73 cents from $2.32 to $3.05 per gallon.
- Midgrade gas averaged $2.78 per gallon, ranging from $2.59 to $3.15 per gallon.
- Premium gas averaged $2.93 per gallon, ranging from $2.79 to $3.39 per gallon.
