EAST PROVIDENCE – The East Bay Community Action Program became the beneficiary of a substantial seven-figure grant from the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration.
The organization announced Thursday that it has been awarded a two-year, $4 million grant from SAMHSA and the grant will be used to provide comprehensive mental health and substance-use disorder services within the Easy Bay community. EBCAP Vice President of Behavioral Health Robert Crossley said in a statement that EBCAP’s focus with the grant will be targeted case management that will include shortening gaps in services by providing housing care management and hiring a bilingual case manager to help bridge the gap within the Portuguese community.

Crossley also said EBCAP will integrate additional services to make sure that individuals needing care have access to a wide range of medical, behavioral and support services. Other areas at EBCAP, such as its 24/7 crisis team, its recovery center’s peer-to-peer services and increasing community outreach, will also be enhanced by the large grant, Crossley said.
“This award will allow us to expand our services in what we call a ‘no wrong door, same day, walk-in access’ model for our clients,” Crossley said.
