CRANSTON – Nelipak Corp. is expanding its operations into North Carolina, with a planned initial investment of at least $11.8 million into a 110,000-square-foot production facility in Winston-Salem.
The Cranston-based company, doing business as Nelipak Healthcare Packaging, manufactures rigid and flexible medical device packaging and will bring manufacturing capabilities currently only available in its European sites to the U.S. with the new facility, according to a news release from the office of North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper.

In a statement, Nelipak CEO Pat Chambliss said the company chose Winston-Salem for “an attractive geographic area with an available new building, a skilled local workforce, a regional emphasis on training and education, and an overall favorable business climate for healthcare-related manufacturing.
“We appreciate the enthusiasm and support for this project in the local community and look forward to a long-term partnership,” Chambliss continued.
Nelipak will also receive financial assistance in establishing the new location through a $72,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund, provided that the company meets job creation and capital investment targets.
The Rhode Island manufacturer projects that the new location will create at least 36 jobs in the Winston-Salem area, with an average annual salary of $57,526.
Nelikpak has a total of five sites in North America, and an additional five locations in Europe.
