PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island officials have awarded $1.62 million in a new round of Learn365RI grants aimed at expanding after-school, summer and other out-of-school learning opportunities for students across the state.
Gov. Daniel J. McKee and Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green announced the fifth round of Learn365RI funding on Aug. 7, saying the grants will support partnerships among municipalities, schools and community organizations. The program is designed to increase access to learning opportunities outside the traditional school day and school year.

According to the announcement, Learn365RI programs provide academic enrichment; career exploration; mentoring; arts education; science, technology, engineering and math activities; athletics; and social-emotional supports for students. State officials said the initiative seeks to support academic achievement, student well-being and workforce readiness.
In a statement, McKee said the grants will help communities provide year-round learning opportunities for students. Infante-Green said the funding is intended to support student achievement and broaden access to educational experiences beyond the classroom.
