PROVIDENCE – Two properties on Providence’s East Side – a two-bedroom carriage house on George Street and an adjacent vacant lot on Benevolent Street – have sold for a combined $6 million, according to Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty.
The 251 George St. residence sold for $4 million, while the 112 Benevolent St. parcel sold for $2 million. The combined $6 million is the highest total sale in Providence since 2024, according to Mott & Chace, citing data from the Rhode Island Statewide Multiple Listing Service.

The real estate firm also said the George Street transaction was the highest-priced two-bedroom sale and the highest-price-per-square-foot sale in Providence County, while the Benevolent Street transaction was the highest-price-per-square-foot sale of a vacant lot in Providence on record.
The George Street property is a single-family carriage house with 3,608 square feet of finished living space, two bedrooms and three full bathrooms. Built in 1968, the one-story residence sits on a 0.35-acre corner lot in College Hill, Mott & Chace said.
The home also features a great room with soaring ceilings, three archways leading to a patio, French doors and two marble mantels, the real estate firm said. The home also includes a wood-paneled library, an eat-in kitchen with custom cabinetry and a primary suite with an expansive dressing room and marble bathroom featuring a soaking tub and mosaic stonework.
The property’s exterior includes formal gardens, a lawn parterre, a classical fountain and mature plantings, according to Mott & Chace. Also, the home comes with a newly built heated and cooled two-car garage, and a finished lower level with a gym, den and full bathroom.
The home was most recently assessed as being worth $1.52 million, including $843,600 for the land and $671,200 for the building, according to the city’s online property assessor’s database.
The vacant lot was most recently valued by Providence assessors in fiscal 2026 as being worth $775,800.

The home was sold by Nancy Harris and purchased by Marc Greenfield, trustee of the 251 George Street Trust, according to the trustee’s deed, and the vacant lot was sold separately by Whisper Investments to Marc Greenfield.
