Northwest Community Health Care to open Foster site

FOSTER – Pascoag-based Northwest Community Health Care will celebrate the opening of a new clinic in Foster on Oct. 26 with a “Foster Healthy Families Fair” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the new facility, at 142A Danielson Pike (Route 6).
The event will provide a chance to meet the new clinic’s health care team and other Northwest staff, and there will be free blood pressure screenings, health information, and children’s educational and recreational activities.
There will also be a ribbon-cutting at 11:30 a.m. with federal, state and local officials, including U.S. Rep. James R. Langevin, D-R.I., discussing the importance of access to quality health care at the community level and unveiling Northwest’s plans to add dental services next March.
Northwest officials said they decided to open a Foster clinic after conducting surveys of the area and learning that many residents weren’t getting preventive primary and dental care or needed to travel significant distances to get services. “We are so proud to be able to offer Foster and its surrounding communities quality primary and dental services closer to home,” said Peter Bancroft, president and CEO of Northwest.
Established in 1909, Northwest Community Health Care is a nonprofit community health center that provides primary care and dental services to area residents. It recently merged with Bayside Family Health Care, a North Kingstown-based community health center.
