WAKEFIELD – South County Hospital Healthcare System has been re-accredited for three years in diagnostic imaging by the American College of Radiology (ACR), the hospital announced last week.
The Reston, Va.-based ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic and interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging, radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
The ACR accredits facilities based on a set of practice standards. Board-certified doctors and medical physicists visit the facilities and evaluate them, and they assess the qualification of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
