PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island gasoline prices have fallen for the second consecutive week after 15 weeks of increases, according to AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s June 11 survey of prices in Rhode Island found that self serve, regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.009 per gallon in the state, six cents less than last week’s average of $3.069. One year ago, the average price was $2.999.
Until last week, prices had risen steadily since the middle of February. Despite the two-week decline, AAA said, average prices are still 59 cents higher than at the start of the year.
The range in prices for self-serve regular in the latest survey was 28 cents, from a low of $2.899 to a high of $3.179, the nonprofit auto club reported. AAA reported wider price ranges for other grades of fuel.
Average self-serve prices for other grades of fuel this week in Rhode Island were $3.139 per gallon for midgrade unleaded; $3.249 for premium unleaded; and $2.949 for diesel.
