Cicilline hits the road for Bike to Work Day

PROVIDENCE – Mayor David N. Cicilline joined hundreds of other Rhode Island commuters today for Bike to Work Day 2007.

Cicilline left his East Side house at about 7:15 a.m., grabbing a helmet and a bottle of water, and peddled to the State House to meet with other city employees. From there, the group cycled to Biltmore Park to take part in this year’s state Bike to Work festivities, which included a free breakfast for bikers.

This was Cicilline’s fifth year as a participant in Bike to Work Day. The annual event, sponsored by the Providence Foundation and the R.I. Department of Transportation, aims to promote the use of alternative transportation.
