PROVIDENCE – Tizra Inc. today announced it has closed on a $500,000 investment from the quasi-public Slater Technology Fund.
The money will enable the East Side software developer to complete the development and commercialization of AgilePublisher. An online publishing and delivery service for publishers and businesses, it is designed to ease searching of Portable Format Documents (PDFs) and make it easier to distribute and sell data from PDFs.
The new technology “bridges the gap for institutions, both large and small, that have significant online content to manage, package, deliver and sell,” said Tizra CEO David Durand. “We created AgilePublisher to give institutions a fast and flexible way to manage how they present their published works as well as how they market and sell them.”
“I believe Tizra’s next-generation, Web-application technology has a chance to scale with the size of the opportunity, and really open the floodgates for book-based content from thousands of publishers.”
said Thorne Sparkman, managing director of the Slater Technology Fund.
“The Tizra team has a lot of their own creativity, time and capital invested in this venture already, and I’m delighted that the Slater Technology Fund can provide the additional support they need to help them reach critical mass.”
