WEST WARWICK – Astro-Med Inc. (Nasdaq: ALOT) says it has completed has certification as an Federal Aviation Administration repair station for cockpit printers.
The company was certified as a Part 145 Repair Station with Limited Accessory and Limited Specialized Service by inspectors from the Boston FAA Flight Standards District Office on Feb. 22, after a rigorous facility audit.

The certification will allow Astro-Med to repair and overhaul its ToughWriter 4 cockpit printers.
“We are now authorized to repair or overhaul printers shipped directly from the airline carriers,” explained Steve Holbrook, Astro-Med’s manager of quality control. “The certification covers the ToughWriter 4 series printers that are used in the cockpit and cabin of the Airbus A380 [and] the Boeing 777 cabin. As more aircraft that use the ToughWriter 4 printer become certified, printers from those aircraft will be serviceable by Astro-Med.”
The company also produces printers for the Boeing C17 and C130 military aircraft and is designing printers for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A400M, which are scheduled to enter service in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
